Mubar Fabian’s

Mubar means "Mujeres de barro" (Women of clay) and Fabián is a surname. Both words give name to the family clay workshop presided over by master Felipe Fabián Pedro since 1985, in San Bartolo Coyotepec, Oaxaca. This town is internationally recognized for its black clay pieces with a shiny finish. The color is obtained thanks to the specific qualities of the clay from the region and the "bruñido" technique, in which the pieces are rubbed on the surface with quartz or river stone to create the smooth and dark finish when fired. Nowadays, the workshop consists of 15 artisans dedicated to the creation of beautiful utilitarian pieces that combine tradition and innovation.
