Palm Workshop
The original name of this group is "Ziña nga ladxiduaa," which translates from Zapotec to Spanish as "La palma es mi corazón" (The palm is my heart). The history of this collective of Zapotec artisans began in 2016 thanks to a group of elderly individuals who gathered to weave with palm ribbons. After the earthquake in 2017, the collective disbanded due to a lack of raw materials and customers. Starting in 2018, they regrouped to weave and design different objects with palm. The rugs, baskets, bags, and other creations allowed them to express the weaving technique with greater creativity and explore innovative designs. Currently, the group consists of six artisans who work collectively to create pieces.
